Considering this festive season, here is another interesting variant of Modak. Fruit modaks..Here the base of the modaks remain the same, just the stuffing changes. This is how it varies from Gajar halva modaks.. Do try this variant..
Ingredients:
All purpose flour - 3/4 cupwater - as per requirement
oil- 1 tbsp
oil for frying
mix fruits- cut into small dices
sugar- for taste
chat masala- 1/4 tsp
Procedure:
Make a tough dough using All purpose flour and water. Add a tablespoon of oil and keep the dough to rest for about 20 minutes.Till then, mix cut fruits with sugar and chat masala. Make sure the mixture becomes dry while filling in the modaks. (To ensure mixture is dry, just dab into the paper napkins)
Take a small amount of dough and roll it out. ( thinner on the edges and thicker at the center)
Place a small amount of fruit mixture at the center of the rolled puri.
Shape the modaks and deep fry the modaks onto a slow flame to ensure the crust gets crispier enough.
Garnish the modaks accordingly and serve these to Ganesh..
