Spinach always reminds me of 'Popeye the sailor man' and hence I get inspired to make more and more recipes using the same. Here is one more such 'Popeye inspired' recipe.. Tasty yet healthier.. Spinach cutlets..
Ingredients:
Fresh bread crumbs- 2 cups
green chilis- 5
ajwain- 1 tsp
garam masala- 1tsp
chat masala- 1 tsp
sendha namak- ½ tsp
jaggery – 1 ½ tsp
spinach- 1 ½ cup
lemon juice- 1 tbsp
salt- to taste
baking soda- ½ tsp
oil- 1 tsp
buttermilk- 1 cup(as per requirement)
oil- to fry
For slurry:
seviya- 1 cup
maida/all purpose flour- ½ cup
red chili powder- 1 tsp
chat masala- 1 tsp
salt- to taste
water- as per requirement
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients for the
cutlets. Add buttermilk as per the requirement, to make the softer
dough just soft enough to roll the cutlets.
Make round balls of it.
Mix all the ingredients for the slurry
and add water to make the thicker slurry.
Now dip the balls into the slurry and
then dip into the crushed seviya. Then give the balls the shape you
desire. Here I have just flattened the balls.
Deep fry the cutlets on fast flame till
golden brown.
Serve the crispy cutlets with chutney
you like. I have sprinkled chat masala powder and injected a coriander spring to make the garnishing complete..
