Gujarati Daal



 Gujarati dal is a flavorful delicacy made from the tur/ arhar dal..It's full of tastes like sweet, sour, hot and tinge of bitter in it.. It's simple to make and cooks easily..to make it. This is a simpler version of the recipe.

Ingredients:

Tur daal: boiled( 1 cup)
curry leaves- 8-10
oil- 1 tbsp
cumin seeds- 1 tsp
mustard seeds -1 tsp
methi seeds- 5-8
tomato ( finely chopped) - 1
green chili paste -1 tsp
coriander - 1 tbsp
water -1 cup
jaggery- 1/ cup
lemon- 1/2 lemon
salt- as per taste
hing- a pinch

Procedure:


1. Boil the tur daal. To ensure that it has got cooked, just press it, if it gets pressed, your daal is ready for further recipe.
2. Now, blend it to get the crushed daal. Add salt and some water.

3. Now, add curry leaves, ginger chili paste and finely chopped tomatoes.


4. Keep the daal to boil.
5. In an other pan, simultaneously keep oil heating. Once it gets heated, add mustard seeds. Once these crackle, add jeera, methi seeds. Add hing and pour the tempering on daal.




6. Add jaggery and squeeze lemon juice into it. Add peanuts to daal.
7. Let it boil for some time, till peanuts get cooked. ( this version is without the garam masala. You can add sabut garam masala to make the daal more delicious)
Add coriander to garnish..
