I have been challenged for #HealthBhiTasteBhi food recipes by my friend and I accepted the challenge. This is one of the recipes coming as an outcome of the same challenge. Healthy breakfast options is a never ending queries in this sedentary lifestyle of ours. In order to conquer this, I have found a quick and easy recipe which is equally tasty and healthy.
Handwa bites/ rava appam can be easily made with ingredients at home and with almost nil oil.
So, try this recipe today.. I hope you will like it.
Ingredients:
- Rava/ sooji (semolina) - 2 cups
- curds- 2 cups
- oil- 1 tsp
- mustard seeds-1 tsp
- hing- a pinch
- curry leaves- 10-15
- water- as per the requirement
- cooking soda- half pinch for every 12 appams
- carrots- grated- 2 medium
- potato- grated- 2 medium
- green peas- 1 cup
- green chilies- 4
- ginger grated- 1 inch
- capsicum julienne- 2
- salt- as per taste
- sugar- 1 tsp
- lemon juice- 1 tsp
- jeera powder- 1 tsp
- til- 2 tsp
Procedure:
1. Heat oil in a kadhai.
2. Add a tsp of mustard seeds.
3. Add a pinch of hing and curry leaves.
4. Add the rava to it and roast rava till it changes a little color.
5. Remove the mixture in a bowl.
6. Add curds to it.
7. Mix well.
8. Keep the mixture aside for 15 minutes.Till then prepare the vegetables.
9. Mix all the vegetables, green chilies, ginger, sugar, salt and lemon juice.
10. Add cumin powder and mix well.
Add water if necessary to get a flowy consistency.
Heat the appam patra. Add a drop of oil in each slot and add til.
Mix soda in a small portion of the mixture. Mix well and pour a small portion to each slot.
Close the patra with lid for 6-7 minutes on medium flame.
Flip the appams and cook on other side as well.
Take out all and serve hot. I made three batches of 12 with this mixture.
Serve hot with ketchup and chutney.
