I never thought baking would be so easy and I could create wonders like those available at bakery at home. This wonderful braided bread was one of those baking wonders created by me. Learn how to make it in easy steps as follows and get the wonderful results as this:
Ingredients:
All purpose flour: 3/4 cup
Wheat flour - 3/4 cup
milk- 1/4 cup
sugar- 1 tsp
salt - to taste
active dry yeast- 1 1/2 tsp
ghee- 1 tbsp
For stuffing:
spinach- 1/2 cup - finely chopped
sweet corn kernels- 1/2 cup
boiled and mashed potatoes- 1 cup
mozerella cheese- 1 cup
finely chopped ginger- 1 tsp
finely chopped green chilies- 4-5
oregano- 1 tsp
black pepper powder- 1 tsp
salt- to taste
lemon juice- 1 tsp
chili flakes- if you like spicy filling
basil- if available - 8-10 leaves
Makes 6-8 breads
Procedure:
1. To make the dough, mix both the flours, milk, sugar, dry active yeast, salt and ghee. Mix well and make a soft dough by adding water.
2. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes. Brush oil to make the kneading easier. After kneading the dough for this long, it should turn into the following.
3. Let it prove for 45 minutes. Cover the dough with wet malmal cloth.
4. Till the dough proves, make the filling. To do so, take the mashed potatoes.
5. Add the corn kernels, spinach, spices and cheese. Mix well and keep aside.
6. As soon as the dough proves, it will almost double its size. Punch the dough with fingers to remove the excess air, like follows.
9. Place the stuffing inside it.
10. Fold the top first. Then place each cut from each side alternatively. Apply milk to make it stick.
11. You will get the braided bun as follows. Brush it with milk for the glaze.
12. now, bake at a preheated oven at for 12 minutes at 180 °C and 220°C for 8-10 minutes till it gets a nice color as follows.
Now, cut the bun and serve with ketchup and chutney, or enjoy the bun as it is..
