Green Peas Kheer

I love the winter due to two things.. First the awesome cool weather and secondly, fresh green vegetables.. Fresh green peas is available in large numbers during this season and hence decided to try out some dessert out of it. It turned out really well. I made kheer out of these green peas using very few ingredients and hence, sharing this wonderful recipe with you all..

Ingredients:

Green peas: 1 cup
Milk: 1 cup
ghee: 1 tsp
sugar- 1/2 cup ( or as per the sweetness required)
salt- a small pinch
elaichi powder: 1 generous pinch
gulaab jal: 1 tsp
kesar strands:  8-10
water- for boiling peas

Procedure:

Step 1: Take the green peas and boil it till it gets cooked.( check if it easily gets smashed)

Step 2: Cool the boiled green peas and after cooling, blend into a smooth paste by adding a tablespoon of milk.

Step 3: Take a teaspoon of ghee. Add it into the thick bottomed pan.

Step 4: As the ghee heats up, add the green peas paste and cook well till ghee separates. Stir continuously to ensure that it doesn't stick to the pan.

Step 5: Add the rest of the milk to it and cook it on low flame and bring it to boil. Ensure that milk doesn't stick to the pan. Add some sugar and salt.

Step 6: Now, add elaichi powder and kesar strands. Add the gulaab jal. ( Gulaab jal is added to balance the flavour of the green peas, which might not be pleasant all the time )

Step 7: Take into the bowl and serve hot. A nutritious bowl of kheer is ready to pamper your taste buds..
