Kutti no daro/BuckWheat Khichadi


When we talk about fasts, a limited options of sabudana or potato comes to our mind naturally. Actually, a variety of satvik food can be added to our diet during the fasts which is healthy for us and tasty as well. Kutti no daaro khichdi is one of these items. As soon as I learned it from Mom, I thought of posting it, to share this wonderful recipe with you all... 

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

kutti no daro/ buckwheat - 2 cups
Curd- 2 cups
water- 2 cups
potato - chopped - 1 cup or 2 medium
oil- 1 tbsp
jeera - 1/2 tsp
curry leaves- 8-10
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
ginger- chili paste - 1 tsp
crushed peanuts- 2 tbsp
sugar- 1 tsp
lemon juice- 1/2 tsp
salt- as per taste

Procedure:

Take kutti no daro and add curds to it. Add water to it and let it soak into it for 15 minutes. 




 Then, heat a oil and add cumin seeds to it.




As these crackle, add curry leaves.

Add turmeric powder.


 Add potatoes. 



 As potatoes turn little tender (gets cooked) , add the soaked mixture to it.

Add water if required for further cooking. Add the chili paste. 


As the water gets reduces and the daro gets cooked well, add the crushed peanuts, sugar and lemon juice.



Add salt. Mix all ingredients well.



Serve hot. Suggested garnishing :)
